This small instrument rests on its carved body covered in skin. The skin still has hair on it. There is a curved neck coming out of the back of the body, and 5 strings are attached to the body in a vertical row. Held in front of the musician with the neck of the instrument pointed away from the musician's body, this instrument resembles a cross between a harp and a lute.
