Rectangular cloth with brilliant stripes in greens, pinks, mauves, red and yellow. Stripes and narrow patterned areas are weftfaced. Plain weave areas are solid colour stripes. X-patterns obtained with weft floats.…
Rectangular cloth with brilliant stripes in greens, pinks, mauves, red and yellow. Stripes and narrow patterned areas are weftfaced. Plain weave areas are solid colour stripes. X-patterns obtained with weft floats. 8.0cm plain weave band simulates band of terminal weaving in items woven on backstrap loom. False palmada simulates central join on backstrap woven manta. Ribete (edging)is woven first as a large piece of fabric, then cut into strips. Protects edge of ikuna. Fabric count (warp x filling)- 11 x 46 yarns/cm.
