Short length of Alencon needle lace; 'Toile' is made of closely spaced buttonhole stitches, on a ground of hexagonal meshes made with buttonhole stitches, worked over loosely; Outlining element is a thick linen yarn, worked over with closely spaced buttonhole stitches; some cordonnets bear picots; decorative element is formed by very small meshes of single twisted buttonhole stitches also called 'petit-reseau' or 'mignon'.
