Two part skirt, foundation and overskirt of red shot silk. Overskirt is asymmetrical. Panel of 7 knife-pleated layers cut with straight grain on one side and bias on the other so that pleated bands hang perpendicular to floor. Bias edge trimmed with 3 large gathered bows. Front and back overskirt are rectangular in shape, originally gathered into waistband. Sides of front and back pieces were pleated and handsewn to foundation skirt. Underskirt has a drawstring casing at back 22.5 cm below waistline for bustle frame. Knife-pleat frill of silk material at botton of underskirt. Dust catcher around bottom made of twill. Edge bound with brown cotton tape. Placket opening at CB.
