Black jacquard velvet gown, opens in front to waist, CB closure with buttons from mid-back to collar; pointed collar with inset sleeves; bodice slightly gathered into waist; bodice front has 2 tucks on each shoulder; sleeves are full at top with tuck extending from shoulder top to just above elbow; tucks above elbow on underarm seams (to shorten sleeves?); according to donor, mother wore dress with diamond brooch on left side.
