Dress of silk brocade in silver grey and chocolate brown with foliate pattern. Jewel neckline decorated with brown fringed trim with jet beads irregularly spaced; neck yoke at front edged with two tiers of brown fringed trim; previous piecing and stitchmarks at bustline both in fashion fabric and lining, suggesting alterations; some darts boned; centre front closure of 15 hooks and eyelets and one thread loop; princess seaming at back; Decorative brown thread-covered buttons cover front closure; sleeves made from 4-pattern pieces; room for elbow gained by easing fabric into smaller seam; sleeve cuffs trimmed with brown fringe; natural waistline; with small watch pocket close to waistline seam; skirt opens left of centre front with 2 hooks and eyes; set-in pocket at right lined with cotton; wide skirt lined with unbleached linen, hem-facing of white stiff fabric; 3 sets of hooks sewn just above hem facing, corresponding to 3 clips sewn hight up in seams (for lifting skirt for walking?); edge of skirt hem finished with dull brown braid.
