Thunder Bay district, off highway 599 north of Trans-Canada (highway 17), 16.1 kilometers north of O'Brien, turn west on logging road then proceed 5.7 kilometers & pull off north on grown over road. Mature, dense stand of balsams with a few mature white spruce and birch. Understory are herbs & tree seedlings: Clintonia borealis, Aralia nudicaulis, Ledum groenlandicum, Sambucus, Streptopus roseus, Lycopodium, Betula papyrifera, Cornus canadensis, Acer spicatum, Viola sp. Very few Pinus banksiana regen in clearing & Larix laricina. From clearing, shaded by 3-5 ft white spruce seedlings.
