[Southwest of Hailstone Butte approximately 4 miles], southwestern Alberta, approximately 5 km south of the intersection of trunk roads 940 and 532, between 10–5–14–4W5M and 5–11–14–4W5M. Seepage slope closed thicket: associated with the seepage and intermittent runoff slopes between the forest communities; hygric to subhygric moisture regimes, an often well-developed oragnic soil profile, and a gentle slope (4˚ to 10˚) with northeasterly to southeasterly aspects. The low shrub cover is closed to semiclosed with Salix planifolia, Salix serissima, Betula glandulosa, Potentilla fruticosa and Salix drummondii (Drummond's willow), and only scattered tree saplings of Picea engelmannii. The herb cover is closed to semiopen with mosses, Sphagnum (species), Equisetum arvense, Juncus drummondii (Drummond; s rush), Pedicularis groenlandica (elephant's head), Carex raymondii (Raymon's sedge), Carex aquatilis (water sedge), Deschampsia cespitosa, parnassia fimbriata var. fimbriata (fringed grass-of-parnassus), Carex disperma (two-seeded sedge), Senecio pauperculus (balsam groundsel), and others.
