Stanley Cosgrove's landscapes are noted for their inner stillness and meditative qualities. This untitled painting is a classic landscape by Cosgrove indicative of his best work in this vein. The muted and pleasant tones, with squarely placed trees on either side of the canvas, provide space for the path which leads the eye to the centre of the picture. It has an enticing and calming effect on the viewer.
