Ink calligraphy on a tanzaku or narrow vertical poem card. The tanzaku is ornamented with a stenciled design in red as well as a generous application of gold dust and flake. The work is mounted in a rounded corner frame of horse chestnut.
This framed piece was given to the University of Alberta by Kataoka to commemorate her first visit to the University in 1985 on the occasion of the “Karma of the Brush I” exhibition at the Ring House Gallery.
