Liz Ingram was born in Argentina and grew up in New Delhi and Mumbai, India and Toronto, Ontario. For over 40 years she taught printmaking, drawing, and intermedia with the Department of Art and Design at the University of Alberta where she helped to establish one of Canada’s pre-eminent printmaking programs. She has participated in over 300 exhibitions and is currently a Distinguished University Professor Emerita. Both of her screenprints Tightening Into Bloom and Releasing Squeeze are examples of Ingram’s early work while she was a master of visual arts student at the University of Alberta. Throughout her career, Ingram has refined her practice to focus on images of the human body and water in large-scale immersive installations.
